GIVENCHY PRESENTS THE SHARK LOCK BOOT PROJECT

In September 2024, Givenchy proudly presents the Shark Lock Boot Project, an artistic initiative that casts the house’s emblematic boot style in a whole new light. The results mark a new chapter for an enduring icon, which appears in turn through documentary or portrait-like images. An extension of the House’s longstanding commitment to creativity and collaboration, the Shark Lock Boot Project was designed as a celebration of universality that nudges art and fashion beyond the classic confines of product-centric photography.

To bring the project to life, the Parisian house tapped the London-based creative director Jamie Reid to select four international tastemakers, who received carte blanche to reinterpret the Shark Lock through their unique lens and creative atmosphere. The guest artists and image makers for this debut edition were: Alessandro Furchino Capria, Takashi Homma, Sharna Osborne, and Jet Swan.

As diverse as it is commanding, the outcome — both still and video — highlight unexpected facets of the Shark Lock, from the leatherworking savoir-faire involved in the construction of one of the most distinctive boot styles in fashion. Also featured in these images are some new iterations of some of the House’s star handbags, revisited in an array of noble materials, sizes, and seasonal colors and finishes to complement the House’s iconic boot style.

Takashi Homma: The Tokyo-based photographer captures the Japanese capital’s urban center, suburbs and landscapes, revealing tender narratives through images of its architecture and everyday life. His influential project “Tokyo Suburbia” received the 1999 Kimura Ihei Award.
