GIVENCHY PRESENTS ITS FALL WINTER 2024 MEN’S CAMPAIGN, PHOTOGRAPHED BY JACK DAY
The epitome of aristocratic elegance throughout his life, Hubert de Givenchy himself is the inspiration behind the House’s Fall Winter 2024 men’s collection. In its accompanying campaign, Givenchy’s gallant public persona and private wit come together on pieces that reconcile glamour with individuality of self-expression.
Sartorial formality blends with Parisian nonchalance in the ease of a tailored overcoat. Punk currents surface in recontextualized versions of the blouse blanche, or dressmaker’s coat, the couturier’s preferred uniform. Revisited in suits and jackets with audacious cuts and magnified volumes, in colors from sapphire to black, a new kind of modern dandy emerges.
Cheeky plays on print, texture, and trompe l’oeil pick up on opulent archival motifs renewed with metallic embroidery, crystal and pearls; chenille and shearling, jacquard and faux fur, resin and lurex. Signifiers from Givenchy’s personal wardrobe— a diamond-shaped G monogram, a 2G buckle, a signet ring, a loafer informed by the gentleman’s slipper — reassert a daring, self-confident approach to statement dressing.
